“A woman who calls herself crone is willing to acknowledge her age, wisdom, and power. Through conscious self-definition, she helps to reverse hundreds of years of oppression, degradation, and abuse aimed at old women. Although she may prefer to be called elder, grandmother, or wise woman, she does not dismiss, disavow, or use pejoratively terms such as crone, witch, or hag. The wise woman/crone/grandmother realizes that the true meaning of these terms, and the woman-centered traditions from which they originate...”

Today is my birthday, I’d say I’m officially a crone; a fact that both amazes me (how did this happen?) and fills me with much emotion: mirth, pride, wonder…
I feel like a kid; I’m healthy, I’m interested in so many things, I enjoy my life.

Sixty. ...Wow
I’m going to embrace what I’ll call my ‘inner Crone’; no point in flaunting a good thing. Sixty is a good number, but I think I’ll keep it to myself. Soon enough I can wear purple and a red hat that doesn’t go… I'm not old yet, dammit.

Happy Birthday! And just think of all the cool "senior citizen" discounts you can get now. :o)
Awwwwwwww... thanks! Someone said that 60 is the new 40. I kinda like that, too.
I'm off to fill out my AARP application... :)
Have a good one. You'll have to wait another 5 years before you can get a senior fare ($.50) on the municipal buses in SF.
Hey...it's always a plus to know I'm not old enough! GRINS
Thank you so much, Sir! …and how are the fires fairing? I hope all is well, seems it may be a dry year for the likes of us mountain folk. I wish you, and your redhead well!
Thank you so much for visiting,
Beverly
Hey Beverly, Happy Birthday to You! Thanks for the good wishes on my day last week so right back atcha. 40 feels ok so far.....but I keep thinking about that marching band.
Laura
Thanks so much, Laura! Yes, that marching band was way cool; my birthday was somewhat more sedate…perhaps in keeping with my more advanced maturity.
NOT!!!
Actually, I went fishing with a friend and caught a nice small-mouthed bass! It’s all good.
You're as "old" as you want to be!
I'd say, from the life you share here, you're not a crone just yet!
LOL I’m thinking ‘crone’ is a positive thing…though the common belief that a crone is old has me celebrating my ‘inner crone’ privately, and outwardly acting like the younger woman I feel. This photo of mine is only a couple years old…so I think I’m pulling it off okay. It’s all good…
